Flabbergasted and disgusted by the media coverage and some of the authorities being interviewed following the Moncton shooting, who talk about healing, closure, and being able to move on barely a day after the tragic event. Let me point out to them what I erroneously assumed to be obvious: 99.9% of people--media included--will go on with their lives and this event will slip into the realm of collective amnesia, whereas the .1% truly affected by the loss will be left reeling for the better part of their lives. So please, for the love of everything decent, dont patronize us with your pseudo-psychological platitudes about healing and closure, when those affected are still assessing the extent of the wounds. (Shootings and the hope of healing sure dont fit well in a 24 hour news cycle!) Case in point: Our honoring of D-Day featuring interviews with WWII veterans and affected families who obviously still bear the weight of their losses, SEVENTY YEARS LATER. My heart goes out to both. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted Matt 5:4
