Flamengo have announced that they have signed Arsenal full-back Andre Santos on a free transfer. Santos, 30, had been expected to join Flamengo on a loan deal as the Brazilian club looked to rush through a deal for the defender with the country’s transfer window closing on Saturday (July 20). The Brazil international spent the second half of last season on-loan at Gremio in his homeland and was keen on a move back to the South American country. The club have confirmed that Santos has signed a two-year deal at Flamengo, who are coached by the full-back’s former boss at international level Mano Menezes. He was awful for them. £7m loss in a couple of years. {MG14]
