Flash! Sonar contact detected. Now classified Hostile Submarine. Seahawk and Stalwart to engage with torpedoes. And with that, our S-70B Naval Helicopter and stealth frigate RSS Stalwart fired a torpedo each, together with the US Navys MH-60R Naval Helicopter earlier today. Our six S-70B Naval Helicopters (Seahawks), forming the 123 Squadron, are invaluable assets to our Navy. Capable of deploying up to 100 nautical miles away from their host ships, the Seahawks extend the conventional war-fighting capabilities of our frigates in Anti-Surface and Anti-Submarine warfare operations. To learn more about how the Seahawk operates with our frigate, watch an animation at bit.ly/1lv2Wx7. These torpedo firings are part of the 20th annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise, a bilateral exercise with the US Navy. Conducted since 1995, Exercise CARAT aims to enhance interoperability and professional cooperation between our Navy and the US Navy. Bravo Zulu to RSS Stalwart and our Seahawk, as well as the US Navys Naval Helicopter for their successful torpedo firings!
