Flashback Friday Its Fair Week in Harrison County. Its a wonderful time of year for Corydon, and I hope to make it down for the parade. This photo was taken in 1977. This is my husband William driving the Eldorado at the front of the Fair Parade with Grand Marshal Jim Best riding with him in the big black hat. William was in the 2nd year of his first term as Harrison County Sheriff. For those of you who have been living under a rock and dont know who James Best is, he is a legendary actor of stage, screen, and TV, probably best known as the actor who made famous the character of Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in the TV series The Dukes Of Hazzard. Jim Best grew up in our hometown of Corydon, IN. The vintage photo is from my late mothers old photo album. She took this photo of 16-year-old Jim Best standing in front of what now is the Gerdon Center, across the street from what used to be Art Kopps filling station. Jim went to school with my mom and her two sisters.
