Flashback to the distant past: I was a small boy when we moved to - TopicsExpress

Flashback to the distant past: I was a small boy when we moved to Zimbabwe and our relocation was closely followed by that of many of my parents relatives. Amongst them was my fathers elder brother who settled in the Raffingora farming community and rose to become a manager at one of the farms along the Raffingora-Guruve road. His home was one of our favourite destinations whenever its was school holiday time. He had two wives who each had a separate kitchen and each mother cooked for her children and served them from her own kitchen. Thus, their children would play together but disperse to their separate kitchens for meals. However, the first time we visited presented a dilemma for the family: an unwritten roaster came into effect and one of the two kitchens was assigned to cook for us and the other would cook for us the following day. This went on for a few days until I, being the Hot Head that I was, spoke to the siblings that had accompanied me on that excursion and told them that we would refuse to be assigned to a particular kitchen but would rather get both meals at the same time. I must hasten to say that this had nothing to do with greed. I told them that this separation was unhealthy and that if our hosts were comfortable playing together and then separating when it came to eating time, then they must carry on and do just that. As for us, we would have both the meals together and not in any of the kitchens but a neutral venue which was, in this case, outside. This seemingly simple act I initiated changed things in my uncles homestead. From then on, food was cooked from the two kitchen but served to all the children at the same time and same venue. When my cousins and I meet, we still talk about my little gallant act. Fast-forward to the the present: the relevance of that part of the story of my life is that the poisoned environment between those that follow leaders elected at the last congress and those that seek to replace them prematurely calls for people to eat from their separate kitchens lest both groups get tainted. With the allegations and counter-allegations that have been flowing to and fro, it is important that I reaffirm whose side I am on. I could give a million reasons to anybody seeking for my reasons: Morgan Tsvangirai is my man and this matter is too poisoned for me to repeat my little gallant demonstration of the early seventies at Peter Carlsons farm. Let those that are for Morgan Tsvangirai be for Morgan Tsvangirai and those that are for the other side be for the other side.
