Flew home to Utah from TX on 9/16 after getting more rain than ever on a 300+ mile motorcycle trip from McAllen to San Antonio to Kerrville, TX. Flew because there was no letup of hard precipitation predicted in the Southwest for days. Went through three rain storms like the one on this vid - from McAllen to San Antonio - but this first one was the spookiest. The rain felt like a sheet of slippery ice and boy, could I have used a glass of wine to sooth the nerves! Got to San Antonio at dusk and rode another 70 miles to Kerrville. It rained the entire 70 miles from a medium drizzle to an occasional hard rain with no break. And about 50 miles of the last stretch was pitch dark! With my hazard lights flashing, I traveled up and down those windy hills at 45-55 mph on I-10, where the normal speed limit is 80mph. The fanny pack that I used for riding throughout my Mexico motorcycle trip got so much rain that the phone in it got damaged by water. Now my trusty Victory Kingpin motorcycle is taking a break at my son’s place in Kerrville, and I’ll fetch it as soon as I can. I’m having a bit of separation anxiety. I’m working on an outline to blog this summer’s motorcycle adventures as I rode solo through ten states in Mexico. If you are interested in these adventures, please join my motorcycle friends’ group where I’ll be posting updates to my motorcycle blog as well as topics related to riding free. https://facebook/groups/tlmcfriends/ Reminding everyone that… I DON’T RIDE TO BE SAFE, I RIDE TO BE FREE.
