Flooded spillway during rainfall suspends classes in a village by: ADMIN MANDAON, Masbate – Rainfall triggers flood in a spillway bridge in one of the villages of this town making school classes from Deogenes R. Cabarles Elementary School to be suspended. The spillway submerges from an overflowing water 10 times higher than the normal water level. This threatens the safety of the students in elementay level. One of the teacher of DRCES confirmed that she cannot do any lesson because she got only three pupils in the morning and five in the afternoon. She added that some of the teachers who used to cross the bridge were also absent and claims that their absences due to the obstruction aren’t paid. Over an hour rainfall, according to her may cause flood in the spillway. Students and teachers who cross the bridge force themselves of not attending classes for their own safety. Private and commercial vehicles accessing the road were also jammed due to the rising water level.
