Folks, Bondo Rally (Tumut) is on the 18th of October, and were asking for people to put their hand up early as either competitors or officials. It is getting to the pointy end of both the NSW and ACT Series so it is a really good event to get your officialling points. The rallying crowd are really a bunch of friendly people. The format of the event is similar to last year, but there have been significant changes to the road book and we are going to require more people than in previous years to man the road closures and controls. Besides it would be great to see some new faces out there, so if you’ve ever considered getting involved in helping to run an event please come along. Another option I am considering is that entries must provide an official, I would prefer not to have to go down that road to make the event run. There are 8 stages ranging from 5km up to 40km, all are single run. I have retained the central service area. Maximum distance between service is around 90km, with 60km competitive. If you think you would need a remote refuel option please let me know early so I can find an area for that to happen, and include it in the road book. The reason for the changes to the road book is that forestry have logging operations planned in areas we have used in previous years. This has taken away some of the main roads we used in stage 2 and 6 last year. What it has done to the event is push it onto slower more technical link roads to join some fast open sections. Forestry have allowed us to close a main road for the first time this year which has opened up roads in an area that hasn’t been used since the Rallysprints ten years ago, and not rallied on for at least twenty. The roads are all gravel, there are some completely new stages and some stages that use roads and parts of roads from previous years. Included in the entry fee will be a smorgasbord at the Tumut RSL club for the driver and co-driver, additional tickets will be available for around $20. I haven’t finalised details for the function yet, but will need numbers closer to the event. In my opinion the event offers something for everybody I don’t want to have to start cutting and repeating stages due to lack of people to make it go ahead, so please help out. Come you know you want to. On a side note the opportunity to be naming rights sponsor and stage sponsors for this fabulous event still exists so if you are keen to have your company name emblazoned and immortalised for the world to see drop me a line.
