Folks, a little word of warning. Over the past few weeks several new rescue pages have popped up. Some of which are appearing on every group on fb it seems. The majority of new rescues are set up by genuine animal loving people who want to help animals in need and we definitely need more good people in rescue. However it takes about 5 minutes to think of a name and start a fb page and anyone can do it. That includes anyone who wants access to animals to cause harm. Let me be clear I have no doubt the majority have only good intentions but please be wary of groups and folk you dont know who are keen to help your dog cat or whatever. So how can you ensure it is someone genuine. Homecheck them. Ask others in rescue you trust if they know or have heard of them. Ask them about their experience of sick/injured animals etc ask them about their rehoming policies if you are handing over your pet to be rehomed. Neutering policy? Vaccination policy and isolation arrangements. What vet do they use too. Anyone genuine will be more than happy to answer any of these questions. In this day in age we need to do as much as we can to ensure our pets even the ones we no longer want remain safe and are rehomed responsibly.
