Folks, just a reminder that freezing rain can be a very deceiving type of precipiation. Icing events arent always something you can just look out the window to see how bad things have become. Just on my drive into the station here in Dayton, the sidewalks were icy, but the main roads were generally wet. However, when I cut through a neighborhood and dipped slightly in elevation, there was a complete sheet of ice for about 100 ft...(luckily I didnt spin out!). Temperatures are critical in these events. It may be 33 degrees with wet roads around your neighborhood, but a mile down the road it could be 31.5 to 32 degrees with icy patches.
