Folks, please use caution if you are considering Jimmys Pools. So - TopicsExpress

Folks, please use caution if you are considering Jimmys Pools. So far, the work itself seems to be good, but we are having a number of other issues. The job was to take ten business days, and we are now at ten weeks plus with no response to our requests for updates and roughly 11 days since the last activity. Jimmys salesman, Jonathan, says he mis-measured our pool surface, and they are losing money on the job, which is not what we wanted to hear mid project. And they have missed 5 completion deadlines (i.e. I PROMISE it will be done by this weekend.) We had one sub complain to us for over thirty minutes about the lies (his word) they were telling us in regard to those missed dates, and that really, they had just taken on too many jobs. Now, we have returned from vacation to find that a check we wrote to the new name of Jimmys Pools, Artizan Pools, was attempted twice to be cashed, with two different signatures and stamps on the back of the check. The bank only honored one of the checks, and now a check cashing company on South Cobb Drive has sent us a demand letter. I spent the morning at my bank, then at the fraud prevention department at the Sheriffs Office, and then at the magistrates office asking them to keep me updated as to any warrants being issued for my arrest. No response at all from Jimmys Pools, after several attempts to learn more about the check situation (much less the project itself). The Sheriffs Office has advised that I retain an attorney in regard to the check situation. (When it comes to check fraud, the system does not favor the victim, unfortunately.) Hopefully this will work out okay, and they genuinely seem like nice guys, even with the craziness of this project, but I feel compelled to put up a yellow flag with them. If the project ends well, I will certainly come back with an update to that effect. In the interim, I may have to pay for the fraudulent check to avoid arrest, and hope that I have recourse later in a civil suit if they can pinpoint the actual perpetrator. I hate publicly bashing contractors or small business owners by name, being a small business owner myself, but this has been a rough ride for sure.
