Folks, this is awesome. The cost is $1500 now, plus $250 at the time of bottling, for an estimated 45 bottles at 40%. These numbers include taxes, assuming no changes in tax rates. The volume/ number of bottles is just an estimate because of evaporation. Just in case anyone hasnt been paying attention, the liquid will be put in casks next month, and will be aged for 3 years (you cant call it whiskey until it has been aged 3 years). Because 45 bottles would be difficult to share 10 ways, and because the number 45 is just an estimate, I suggest the following: we assume that there will be 40 bottles, and that buying 4 bottles will cost you $150 now and $25 later (for a cost of $44/ bottle, including tax). We will then (hopefully) have 4-5 extra bottles, which members of the group can buy for $44, with the extra money going to a charity of the groups choice (or perhaps we could devise some more amusing competition for distributing the bonus bottles). We should, however, decide on a plan before money starts to change hands. At the moment, Ive noted 13 people as being in, so either 6 of these folk would prefer to just buy in for two bottles, or we need to start on a second cask! The people I have are Eric Laidlaw, Allan Haley, Robert Clift, Brian Green, Robyn Carrigan, Jessica Wood, Michael Sjoerdsma, Oliver Kühn, me, and three other people not yet in this group. So... shall I go in tomorrow and buy a cask? At least, the first cask? The following link has the details: oddsocietyspirits/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/OddSociety_Cask_Offer_2015.pdf
