Folks, time for some truth. It does not matter what is being preached. It is protected under the 1st Amendment. Christians of all stripes, Jews, Hindus, Wiccans, Satanists (yes, even Satanists) and those who worship The Flying Spaghetti Monster all have protection under the 1st Amendment. There is not a possibility of government oversight into what is preached by a church. Unfortunately, this includes intolerance. It is an ugly truth that some churches profess a gospel full of hate. It is true that some churches profess to love thy neighbor but forget that intolerance is about as neighborly as a hemorrhoid. But none of that matters. It is still protected speech. They can be as intolerant as they like. They can claim God Hates Fags and it is still protected speech. That they are douchebags does not change this. No one has the right to subpoena what is said in the pulpit. No one has the right to put it on trial (unless they are advocating directly for a candidate, which is expressly forbidden). No one has the right to approve what is said in the pulpit to determine if it passes muster. I could gather up my friends and all claim to worship my belly button. And as long as we are gathered, I can say all manner of insanity, and it would be protected. We have proof of that with L. Ron Hubbard. And as insane as his psychobabble cum religion is, no one in the government has the right to gainsay it, subpoena it, or otherwise pass any form of public scrutiny on it.
