Follow Up to my Juvie post from yesterday...When I got to Juvie, - TopicsExpress

Follow Up to my Juvie post from yesterday...When I got to Juvie, this young man could not believe that I took the time to meet with him. I was there for 2 hours as he shared his life story, cried, laughed and stated he had a lot of respect for me to show up. He told me he had been in 32 foster homes, doesnt know his dad and mom abandoned him. I have to tell you that I am so glad I took the time. He is a leader and is full of unlimited potential. I connected to this young man and built a relationship of trust with him. I also had him grab some paper and a jail pencil (it is a soft bendable plastic pencil so you cant use tinkle a weapon) and he took lots of notes on never limiting life and not letting the past or your mistakes infect your future...and I helped him develop an action plan with short term goals that he could accomplish within the first year of getting out. He was pumped and I told him the real test is when you get back in society. I told him to keep in touch with me so that I could hold him accountable. His dream is to be a speaker and to help others. I told him that it is now time to own your life and take responsibility for the direction of your life and pay it forward so that he can help someone else that may be having a hard time. To get hope, sometimes you have to get outside of yourself and share hope....from the poor me mentality... from selfish to selfless. The mess leads to a message. He has a belief in God, so I passed on my testimony to him about how God has a way of taking nobodies and people who have made lots of mistakes...and turning them into somebodies. I shared with him a powerful story of mine about forgiveness and that he will need to forgive others as well as yourself for the mistake you have made and then give yourself permission to have an amazing rewarding life...to turn your mistakes into wisdom and never let the inner me become the enemy. I gave him a big hug and looked him in his eyes and told him that I believe in him and that all of my Facebook friends that made comments on my earlier post (on my like page and personal page) believe in him and are cheering him on to make the right choices. I cried because I felt his pain and saw a big part of me inside of him but also know wheat great things he is capable of achieving in this life. I told him that your life gets better, when you get better. Your beat days are still ahead of you. Im here to tell you that We can make a difference in the lives of these full of potential youth. I love that quote that says we are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spirits having human experience. We are all connected. Much appreciation to you for your support as Im on this wonderful journey to help others heal and to empower others to never let a weakness destroy your greatness. We all have the potential to help others and be hope dealers. Have a great weekend!
