Follow me for more ........... Cheryl-Ann Porter Tales of Peterborough............... Episode 1 Well we have been here for 12 days now, it has been an interesting time. We are about 80% unpacked, spent the first week using mobile internet and finally had the home phone and internet connected on our 8th day in town only to have it disconnected again when a gardener sent to deal with the hedging that was running up over and into the roof and was lifting the roof sheets, also found it to be tangled into our phone lines too. 3 days we had it on and now need to wait another week to have it reconnected. There is 1 local supermarket, no traffic lights and 5 local pubs, LOL. 1 Doctors surgery that is booked out for a month in advance, but we do have a pretty large local Hospital, a Hardware store and many vacant shops in the main street. We have an issue with Cowthrop running rampant throughout the town so no walking around outdoors without shoes which is interesting for me since I go barefoot whenever possible, the weather is also way colder than we are used to and most of my wardrobe is summer clothing. Of course I am now coming down with the flu and did not have my fluvax yet this year, by the time I get an appointment to get it Winter will have already set in, so looks like I see how my immune system will cope on its own this year, could be a fun time. We are getting the yard prepared to plant Vegetables in Spring so that we can grow our own and will have Chickens again very soon, we really do miss our fresh eggs and own produce!! We are also looking forward to getting a Rose Garden established, this is the perfect climate for Roses!!! We still have to change our details for all our ID, Drivers Licence, Rego etc but that will require a trip to the coast, so that is for next week!!! We will be starting a blog soon with our Adventures so will let everyone know where to follow them, there are obviously some adjustments to be made but we are making them slowly. We are yet to have the car assessed for the Roo damage from the trip here and also finally had our iPad sent to us but unfortunately it has a damaged screen so we will need to deal with that once we make it into a larger town because we cannot buy a replacement here. Dont run out of Milk, Bread, Smokes etc after 7pm at night because there is nowhere to get them, the town shuts down for 12 hours a day every day which is something we are no longer used to. It is quiet, you can breathe, there is no pollution and you can actually see the stars at night. My Asthma is greatly improved also so that is a huge bonus and the primary goal for the relocation, but what an adventure to get here, LOL. Well that is it for this installment............... Stay Tuned for more!!! Feel free to scroll down my wall and check out the journey here if you missed it too, it was quite entertaining!!!
