Allen for funding the Great Elephant Census currently underway in Africa by Elephants Without Borders. Experts worry there are less than 250,000 elephants remaining in Africa while international ivory trade groups have a dangerous habit of greatly exaggerate the existing elephant population while downplaying the poaching numbers concurrently. We are so grateful Mr. Allen has extended his generosity to determine the truth. The truth is that the current population of elephants in Africa remains unknown, said Mike Chase, founder of Elephants Without Borders. He continued, What we do know is that in 2013 we lost 96 elephants a day in Africa.
