Following a meeting with Nicol Trueman last night who has done some sterling work in helping create the necessary paperwork and documentation for us to become a club. We now have a copy of that paper work and will be making some minor changes over the next couple of weeks, we will then meet with her in 2 weeks’ time on 06/11/2014 at 18:00 at the Arts Centre. Following agreeing the paper work we will need to set up a meeting with all the potential members that can attend and start the process of becoming a club. One of the key reasons for becoming a club is to make sure we have insurance for everyone taking part, to have club vests and training and tops and clarify the role and purpose of why we are a club. We need to have 3 formal roles within the club Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. There are alsp unofficial roles Social Secretary, Marketing, Website, Newsletters (Please feel free to invent your own if not listed) Would anyone that is interested in helping with the official roles or unofficial roles please let me know on here or via a message. I will fill one of the 3 roles and Phill has said he will also do one. Do we have any other people willing to say yes? Who does which role will be decided by a members vote. Coaching sport England. If you would like to be in charge of hosting a running sessions or leading some beginners. You only need to do a local one day course called Leadership in Running See runengland.org/page.asp?section=38 If you would like to be involved in leading sessions and who would like to look at the more formal coaching qualifications as well. Then please let me know or message me. This is not as bad as it sounds. It would be really great if we had some volunteers that would be take some sessions at other times and days to allow more people to come. The original club was called Washington Athletics Club, but not sure I see this club doing athletics as well. Coaching for under 18s was discussed but that is more of a future aspiration for the club, rather than something we plan to offer from the start. The current name I have been using is Washington Running Club, but Washington Community Running Club has also been mentioned. Any views on names for the club? We are also still looking at potential venues to host the club from. Running out of time and space for typing, hoping that gives an overview of where we are at. More importantly would be great to hear back from you now to hear your ideas on what you would like to see from the club or if you want to be involved in forming the club :)
