Following discussions with county and municipal officials, Waste Management has suspended all residential and commercial garbage collection services in Walton County, including the cities of Freeport and Paxton, following yesterday’s severe weather. These conditions include street flooding, fallen trees, storm debris or low or down power lines. In North Walton County, regularly-scheduled Wednesday residential routes will receive service Friday, May 2, pending road conditions. In South Walton County, regularly-scheduled Wednesday residential routes will resume on the next scheduled service day, pending road conditions. All Walton County regularly-scheduled Wednesday commercial routes will receive service Thursday and Friday, May 1 and 2, pending road conditions. “As part of our storm management procedures, Waste Management has conducted our post-storm observations and discussed the situation with local officials. After this consultation, we will delay some collection services until it is safe to resume operations,” said Lynn Yort, public sector sales representative, Waste Management Gulf Coast Area. “We at Waste Management understand the severe storm weather has created a great deal of challenges for the residents and businesses in this county and the surrounding areas. We are focused on providing safe and environmentally sound collection and disposal services to all of our valued customers, and we appreciate the cooperation and patience of our valued customers as we collectively work to meet the post-storm challenges presented by this severe storm weather.”
