Following the passing of Belize’s chief negotiator over the Belize/Guatemala territorial dispute, Ambassador Alfredo Martinez who died on Tuesday night in Guatemala was laid to rest on Saturday. A state funeral and memorial service was held for Belize’s ambassador to Guatemala at the La Inmaculada Catholic Church where his ashes were blessed and laid to rest amongst his closest relatives and friends. And while it was a time of mourning for the congregate, outside the circumstances, Tio Fred or simply Fred to his friends, was remembered fondly by those that he came across. His service brought about the presence of a distinguished panel including Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Senator Lisa Shoman. We have compiled a collage of the funeral services, here is that report.
