Following this past weekends Conference and others of similar note, Ive had some thoughts come to me particularly because of the reaction to the messages shared. Personally I enjoyed every bit of Conference, starting with the Saturday sessions and culminating with the Sunday session to which it seems a few individuals - both members and non members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - are taking exception to. Much of what was said pertains to discontinuing certain practices or traditions that hinder us from living the Gospel (e.g lobola, husbands/men domineering over wives/women and children), while much was also said about upholding certain practices and traditions that are at the core of the Gospel (strong family ties). As a Latter-day Saint, here is how I look at it - Is this the Restored church and Gospel of Jesus Christ? Do these brethren, speaking from the pulpit, do so by inspiration and authority from God? Do I trust in the Lords promise that His servants will never lead us astray? Above all, do I live the Gospel only when its convenient, or do I have faith sufficient to carry my crosses and walk the path He has walked? These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation... From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with Him. Then said Jesus...Will ye also go away?
