Following up on this mornings post/question where I was asked if I had to pinpoint the five (and only five) most life-altering moments/events Ive had in my life, what would they be. My friend brought up the point what if the events/moments didnt directly involve you and that intrigued my mind so I decided to come up with two lists of 5. The first 5 are the ones that are mine and the 2nd 5 are not mine but they changed my life for real. Thanks to the friend who originally asked, I love shit like this! In no particular order: My Five: 1. The one and only time I ever saw my father get violent when he encountered the disgusting perv who molested me at 14. 2. Going into the hospital with flu-like symptoms but otherwise healthy and coming out 7 months later with end-stage-kidney-failure because of a missed and mis-diagnosis, knowing Ill never get better. 3. The death of my Dad. 4. Losing 110 pounds. 5. William A. Schaefer, Always WAS. Meeting him, being with him, losing him. Knowing and losing true love for the first time in my life. The Five That Are Not Personally Mine: 1. The murder of a friends 12 year old cousin in 1984. 2. A dear friends suicide in 1998, we all knew but no one could help him. 3. When the disgusting perv who molested me at 14 got caught with another 14 year old (he had moved on from me as I didnt want anything to do with him). He didnt rape me, he did rape her. 4. 9/11 5. Watching my Dad fight like a trooper for his life through 9 months in the hospital, a feeding tube, a ventilator, doctors who told us he would never come home and multiple bouts of MRSA. He beat the odds, he did come home and he gave my mother and I another 6 months. I only wish for 1/10 of his strength.
