Food for thought. McDonalds is refusing to buy the GMO potatoes because they are afraid of customer backlash. What is modified about the potato you ask? Well that is a good question. These potatoes have been modified so that they do NOT produce the naturally carcinogenic proteins which are formed in normal potatoes when exposed to high temperatures (you know, like frying). This means they are opting for potatoes more likely to cause cancer than dealing with people complaining at them. Im not a huge McDonalds guy, but this is a wonderful example about how many antiGMO people are afraid of something because it sounds scary not because it is. Btw, everything you eat is GMO, even the stuff in the organic isle. If you are an ardent antiGMO person, please, before you go protest a company because they use products which grow better in more climates with less use of chemical additives, please educate yourselves in what the science is behind the modifications. Im not saying this sarcastically. I have some really good material for you to either read or watch. GMOs are not scary and the tech behind them is pretty cool overall. I feel like if people just knew the science behind it they would realize the good that comes from them. Ok, sorry about the long post but I thought it was worth saying. /end rant.
