Food for thought: Proverbs 8: 33-35 wisdom says, “Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD.” When I determine to do something God wants me to do, it is amazing how many interruptions try to gain my focus or excuses arise for me to do something else. These are usually loud, annoying, and give me a reason to sit on the sidelines in hesitation. In those times, I’m learning to listen deeper for the still small voice that whispers His plan to my heart. Then I am able to shake off the urgent distractions and respond to Him. When my heart and mind are united in this listening place, I hear the voice of Wisdom with greater clarity. When I fail to listen to God’s Spirit, I end up exhausted, weak, ineffective, grumpy, and whiny. It feels like I’m walking through mud up to my knees and that there’s a “short” somewhere in my personal electric system. For most of us, distractions lead to chaos and results in a loss of focus and fatigue. DeKok, Joy (2013-06-03). Under His Wings (Kindle Locations 777-779). Infusion Publishing. Kindle Edition.
