Food for thought for anyone wanting to know more about the ALS - TopicsExpress

Food for thought for anyone wanting to know more about the ALS association: charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3296#.VAd6z_ldWbn 17.8% of their fundraising has gone to research. Great, they raised ~3,800,000 million dollars. They pocketed over 20 million dollars in program and administrative expenses. They say 9.1% of their expenses went to administrative... thats over 2 million dollars over the course of a single year (I believe) that went to administrative tasks. And the number one defense I hear is yeah well all organizations do this, which is single handedly the worst retort that anyone can use. Why is it okay for foundations and associations like this to accept MILLIONS of dollars, and only use 17.8% of that money towards what the donor actually thinks theyre donating towards. These associations are a fraud, the immense personal greed does not outweigh the small selfless act they perform. Its great that they donated almost 4 million dollars towards the cause, but this does not excuse the blatant thievery that goes on by these companies. Unfortunately, I do not know of more reputable associations in which you can donate. I really wish these shady companies would get torn down, and society begins to wake up. If I am missing some blatant things due to sheer ignorance, feel free to inform me. Just the way I see it right now, this isnt right; it cant be justified.
