Food for thought for those who firmly believe people just don’t - TopicsExpress

Food for thought for those who firmly believe people just don’t change; I’m familiar with a saying that goes like this; You can put a Jack-Ass in a box and ship it a crossed the country, but when you open the box the same Jack-Ass get’s out. Let’s imagine for a moment the Jack-Ass had a very difficult youth. Passed back and forth from owner to owner, he was yelled at, beaten with a stick and verbally abused. He put up a good front but was overall unhappy, ungrateful and insecure, frustrated and generally felt his existence was a disappointment to others. This made our friendly Ass prideful, rebellious, independent and irresponsible. After a firm push from behind, our arrogant, spiteful Jack-Ass, packed and shipped, emerges from his crate, on the other side of the country, the same as he went in. Once there a while however thing are not the same as what he left behind. 15 years pass in greener pastures, loving care, acceptance and a better life allow him to see things from a different perspective. Our pain in the Ass, “Ass” finds himself optimistic, grateful, compassionate and with a better sense of wellness. Any animal that’s struggled, and then was shown patience, kindness and that not all life is what it once was, is capable of change. So too it is the Jack-Ass in the box. Are Humans really any different?
