Food for thought while assembling a survival kit -I am more - TopicsExpress

Food for thought while assembling a survival kit -I am more likely to be attacked TWICE in my lifetime by Great White sharks than find myself in in 1 true wilderness survival scenario- I have 4 times the chances in my lifetime to be struck by Lightning than to be in a SINGLE Great White Shark attack- That may be the case for an average individual that is frequenting the woods less than 2 weeks a year, im hovering at 80+ overnights so my chances are more I guess. Dont overload yourself! That being said, What do I choose to take and why? Every time I hit the woods I at LEAST take with me the first 5 cs and water. I carry it in either a small belt pouch or my small oilskin haver sack that also has plenty of room for keys, snack, something I may find alongside of the trail etc. My items I choose is my belt knife, Ferro rod+small fire kit, 25 ft #36 bl, 55GAL drum liner, cotton bandanna,32oz metal water bottle. All this fits in a very small area and is not looking like I am carrying a 3 day bug out bag. It is light and I enjoy carrying t as I like having water and the security of the few items that are in that small kit. I do not go where a open carry large belt knife is not allowed or legal to carry, but if I HAD to remove it, that knife would be in my truck and my folder will be in my pocket. I am trying to implement solid regiments and new personal standards for 2015. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Jamie
