Football: The first Aurora team into the Class 5A state playoff fray is No. 26 Hinkley High School Football, which takes on No. 7 Columbine in a 4 p.m. matinee at Jefferson County Stadium. New head coach Jaron Cohen has the T-Birds in the 5A playoffs in his first season at the school, following one 4A playoff appearance in his five seasons at Liberty. Hinkley (5-4) plays its first postseason game since 2008 and takes on a Columbine team with four 5A state championships since 1999 (1999, 2000, 2006, 2011). T-Birds QB Austin Ruiz has had a strong season and connected with Chance DeAndre Drake for 5 touchdown passes in the regular season finale.
