The world cup is no longer won by the team with the best player but it is won by the best team. ----The game has tactics ----People actually place emphasis on defenders and goalkeepers unlike older days where strikers alone were famous ----I would love to see Maradona bring this side to win world cup especially when you consider that someone on his team in 86 scored 4 goals -----Automatically the best teams have who will seem to be the best players because of the team who they have to complement you ------Put Muller in Argentina squad and no tap ins will be created by biglia and gago. ------Put messi in Germany and Kroos and Ozil creates 10 tap ins for him suddenly he looks amazing. ------If you look in Germany side everyone (lahm, bastian, muller, kroos etc) were equally important which is why and made each other look good. I think the only other contender was robben -------There may have been another player who could have won it but you have to admit that key passing to palacio and higuain were never gonna bring assists -------If they had scored and messi had 5 assists everyone would be singing but admit he tried his best in losing markers and playmaking -------NOte: Golden ball is voted for before finals which is why zidane won it even after headbutt. Respect the modern game of football and dont try to compare it to older days
