For 2014, the Historic Fayette Theater is fortunate to offer not just one, but two summer Youth Drama Camps. The new format of this year’s camps is a “MINI Camp, with BIG Fun”! The camp directors will be HFT veterans, Sharon Bibb and Shari Davis, who have been involved for many years in HFT and other productions. * The first mini-camp will be held from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Theater on June 19, 20 and 21, with an afternoon performance on Sunday, June 22 at 3:00 PM. This camp will only be for ages 12 through 16, and registration is limited to 25 students. The participants in this camp will perform such highlights as “Thriller,” “The Cup Song,” and “When I’m Gone,” and there will be special concentrations on stage makeup, silhouettes, and maybe even a little “magic.” * HFT’s second mini-camp will be held August 7, 8 and 9 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM culminating in a Sunday afternoon performance August 10 at 3:00 PM, for students aged 8 through 12. Highlights of this camp will include “What Does the Fox Say,” “The Cup Song,” “When Im Gone,” silhouettes, masks and clowns. Both camps will briefly cover general theater topics such as stage design, stage presence, and articulation. It is a great opportunity for your child to learn theater processes and perform on the HFT stage, whether for their first time or another of several performances. The cost per registrant is $60.00 which includes all three days of instruction and the performance. Tickets for each performance for audience members will be $5.00 each, and each camp attendee will receive one complementary ticket for a family member. Each participant will also receive a light snack for each day and a t-shirt. Campers are asked to bring a non-perishable, non-refrigerated bag lunch for each day of instruction. Registration forms can be printed from the theater website at historicfayettetheater/page13.php , and mailed to the theater at HFT P.O. Box 448 Fayetteville, WV 25840, or dropped off at the theater on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. Based upon interest, another mini-camp may be set for a Saturday for 5 and 6 year old children, with a performance that evening. If you have a child in that age range you think would like to participate, please contact the Historic Fayette Theater to express your interest. The spaces will be reserved on a “first come” basis and all reservations must be received and paid for by June 5, 2014.
