For 400 years Slavery and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade was big business and European countries like Portugal, France, Spain, England and Holland profited hugely from this despicable and inhuman international trade. If you ask me, this Holocaust was the worst in human history since almost 30 million African slaves endured it. Yesterday the UN launched the decade for People of African Decent and next Year the UN will unveil a Memorial to remember this tragedy in order to remind humanity that this should never happen again. Some will say forget about it, since this piece of black history is too painful to reminisce and prefer to sweep it completely under the rug….My opinion is that humanity should be educated about it and that the dependents of those who were responsible should first express their sincere apologies on behalf of their ancestors, where after all (the descendants of the victims and those who profited from the catastrophe) should figure out a way to get together in order to repair this human tragedy…….
