For 44yrs I have tried my best to be true to who and what I am. The part that sucks is lots of people, including myself have given into peer pressure at times and abandoned or wavered on what we believe is right just so others would not ostracize us. Its sad people choose to exclude others for simply trying to live their own idea of what life should be. But the rank n file sheep will continue to graze on the grass found in the ranchers fields as the black sheep wander outside the fences to eat wherever and whatever they want. These black sheep may be small in their numbers but at least they are free. The past year was rough. That is just fine. Its always darkest just before the dawn. In the coming months an accomplishment of mine will become public. It is the greatest achievement of my entire ocean surfing/river surfing life. As anyone who knows me and knows how I truly view life, this feat doesnt make me a better person nor do I think Im cool because of it. Its just a thing and things like this pale in comparison to being a good dad or being a good friend or just being a fair and decent person. But because their has been some odd behavior recently in the river surfing community from a small number of individuals and because this behavior goes against everything i believe river surfing stands for.... I feel compelled to make the age old statement I told you so. But that statement doesnt really convey my true feelings. So I will let one of my favorites bands say it for me.
