For CFS Students and Recent Grads: UPDATE ON CURRICULAR AND TRANSFER OPTIONS CURRICULAR CHANGES In response to industry and student demand, the Colorado Film School has amended our course and degree offerings to better meet the needs of our students and promote professional and academic success and completion. Beginning fall 2014, CFS will offer three year 75 credit AAS degrees in the following emphasis areas: • Writing/Directing • Cinematography/Videography • Post Production • Writing/Producing • Acting/Directing for the Screen • Screenwriting The 75 credit AAS degrees are designed to give students the skills they need to succeed in a competitive marketplace. Please refer to the degree advising sheets and Academic Year 2014-15 catalog for detailed course information prerequisites and progressions for each emphasis area. Beginning fall 2014, Jennifer Scott, CFS Student Success Coordinator, will be dedicated 100% to advising CFS students. In collaboration with our Achievement Coach, Beatrice Salazar, this transition will help ensure consistency in advising, in-house support, coaching and assistance with transfers. If you are interested in the new degree programs, please see Jennifer Scott to see how these options may work for you. Transfer Options We currently have three established transfer options with local 4 year partners, which include: University of Colorado Denver Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) College of Arts & Media Theatre, Film and Television Department Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD) Bachelors of Art (BA) English Department Regis University Bachelors of Applied Science (BAS) College for Professional Studies Business Department Each institution noted above has specific requirements for transfer, and one may suit your unique goals and needs better than another. We recommend that any student intending to transfer make a one-on-one appointment with Jennifer Scott to review their specific situation and options. In addition to the three local universities, CFS has worked diligently over the past few semesters to explore and develop additional transfer partnerships. We are currently collaborating with Santa Fe University of Art and Design in Santa Fe New Mexico to transfer the new AAS 75 credit degrees and all previous associate degrees offered at CFS. Santa Fe University of Art and Design Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) is located in Santa Fe New Mexico, approximately 400 miles south of Denver. For more than 20 years, the university has been home to one of the finest undergraduate filmmaking facilities in the country. Garson Studios, which shares space with the Film School, has three commercial soundstages and has hosted more than 30 major productions, including the Coen Brothers’ True Grit and the Academy Award–winning No Country for Old Men. Our students have the rare and valuable opportunity to intern on A-list Hollywood productions using state-of-the-art equipment. Most recently, students interned on the sets of 2 Guns and the A&E TV series Longmire. The Film School at SFUAD offers an outstanding program at a great value. Its location in Santa Fe is ideal for those who want to delve deeply into their craft while surrounded by a vast network of artists and industry professionals. What does this collaboration mean for CFS students? • Ability to transfer your associates degree to a 4 year BFA in Film Production at Santa Fe • ½ price tuition for your final year at SFUAD (approximately $14,000 which is equivalent to 4th year tuition at Regis and two years resident rate at UCD) • Ability to transfer up to 87 credits from CCA/CFS.
