King Drive 6:00pm – 7:00pm Welcome/Introductions: Patricia S. Castillo, P.E.A.C.E. Initiative Reflection in Action: Using performance art masterfully interwoven with excerpts from Dr. Kings passionate writings, participants will connect with the beauty of our diversity and the challenge of mutual respect in todays America. We will specifically examine how labels can mask who we are, and contribute to our oppression by undermining unity and promoting the very types of fear, division and hatred that Dr. King sought to dismantle. Honoring the message of nonviolence, we rededicate ourselves to exercise compassion, increase understanding, and to promoting peace. Procession of Candles to crosswalk: Blessing of Official Start Line for the M.L.K March Music and song leaders provided through ACTS Ministry Announcements and opportunities to pledge for nonviolence. Marching Together from Past to Present for Our Future reminds us that we must not forget the sacrifices our ancestors made in order to give us the freedoms we have today, said San AntonioDistrict 2 Councilman Alan E. Warrick, II. As we march this year, I am reminded of Dr. Kings legacy and dream of equality and justice for all, and everyones participation demonstrates commitment to continuing this important legacy. Take a stand for nonviolence. Attend the vigil and join us for the march. This event is free, open to the public and appropriate for audience of any age. “I am what I am because of who we all are... It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.” Martin Luther King, Jr. ###
