*** For Istanbul Şehir University Students *** With the announcement of new election dates, my tenure as a student representative has come to an end. It was an honor doing my job and I tried my best despite of bureaucratic headships and enforcement of Turkish that I couldnt speak - everywhere even in official as well as student union meetings. Whatever! Today, I want to announce that I have no intention of taking part in next elections. Though most my friends want me to continue with the same enthusiasm and utilize my experience but I personally feel that it will be good if someone better takes my place with new ideas. Apart from that, I want to remain outside the system so that I may get a chance to point out the mistakes made by Students Union and then criticize them for the sake of a better Şehir. Moreover, this year I have more responsibilities as I am managing the first English newpaper of Şehir as well as performing my duty as an executive member of a couple of clubs. I am glad that a few colleagues of mine from Students Union have the same ideas and we want to play our role to prevent an authoritarian system. Good luck to the new candidates and I hope they will turn my dream of a better and integrated Şehir, into reality.
