For Love feat Grover Washington Jr - King Britt pres Sylk130 For Love is one of the best songs I have written and produced. Done for the Re-Member’s Only album, it went onto become a slow burn classic. The song began in my home studio at the time. I did the initial beat, keys and sounds but was stuck in the moment. Tim Motzer came over later that day to jam and he did the second half of the bassline. Then it was full steam ahead. He added guitar and we laid out the song. A few hours later, I woke out of my sleep at 430am and wrote all the lyrics and went back to sleep. I believe heavily in divine intervention and this was a perfect example of it. So, the next step was to figure out who was to sing it. I wanted a duet to do the song, like the old days. I felt my main man, Mark Bell, from Blackpool England, was definitely the voice for the male role and my friend Twyla (from Vancouver), whom Vikter Duplaix was producing, would be ideal for the female. I unfortunately could not get them in the same room, so we recorded them separately but their voices totally melt into one another. For many years I was friends with the late Grover Washington Jr.. I shared a house with his son for a few years. A friend suggested I get him on the song, because he was always asking when we were going to collaborate. I called him up and the next day, we went into Larry Gold‘s studio in Philly and recorded what was to be one of his last collaborations. I will be releasing a version that only features Grover and no vocals early next year. The last step was when Larry Gold walked in and heard the tune. He quickly grabbed his cello and the rest is history. It added the magic touch that sewed it all together. The making of a masterpiece ! youtu.be/uSV9eM5172E
