For Richard, First experience with production just came to mind in the room of contemplation. Id been on a couple of talk shows, one of which was for collectors of certain things on PBS in LA. IIRC it was one of the first times I met and talked with Harlan Ellison. They had a three camera set up and it was interesting to watch (because I hate being in front of a camera). When I went to school up in NorCal, got a call from an old friend (the guy from the Green Beenies) to help with a Cable Show they ran locally. It was a 2 camera set up, with some old clunky Sonys. He was Cmaera 1, I was camera 2. The Director (a young kid) gave me a couple of shows to learn how to finesse shots with those cameras. Worst problem we had was it was a live show and the 2 cameras and director were on a closed communication loop. Because the show was dreadfully boring (it was about Opera), we tended to crack jokes. The host would get furious when we end up getting a bad case of the giggles even though you couldnt hear it on air. If memory serves, that ran about 6-10 months and a lot of fun. Worst thing was to be told to Dolly Back which ended me up in an open access panel in the floor and I went over backwards. welcome to Cablevision in the 70! Never ask about one time I was asked for a Bust shot on the female host! ;) Basically Waynes world about Opera. Never ask about the video I spliced together for the station sign off... lets just say it had a lot of weird and early planes crashing. ;)
