For Wed., Aug. 6 (& Cherry Hill) (and probably Sat., Aug. 9) veggie shares, we expect: (all organic unless noted otherwise) LOCAL: red basil, eggplant, collard greens, cucumbers, red leaf lettuce, Traviata frying (not hot) peppers, summer squashes and tomatoes, Ecologically Grown Fuji apples, nectarines and peaches, Integrated Pest Management sweet corn (growing corn organically requires farmers to open the ears and put droppers of oil on each ear several times during the growing season to prevent corn ear worm, which makes labor costs very high, translating into very high prices for the corn. Most organic corn will have corn ear worms in it. We have been getting very wonderful corn from this local IPM grower for many years, through one of our organic farmers who is his neighbor and approves of his agricultural practices,) CA carrots, green beans and Ecuadorian bananas. Please tell your coordinator immediately if you have any quality problems! A picture helps us see what the problem is. By law, we only have 24 hours to get supplier credits.
