For Wimbo peeps: As we have an election on Thursday in Wimblington - yes we do. A Parish Council election where well known Joanne Rose to some and well known James Waterman to others, will be slogging it out in a fair and democratic way. I would urge you all to remember not only was it not long ago that women received the vote in this fair country of ours but also the ordinary working man. We have democracy and it is a great thing. Why? It is because it enables the people to speak and choose who they want to vote for, not who the council themselves would like to see. This is important. I did not write expressing my wish for a vote, I have been told by almost fifty residents in the village that they did. This therefore must mean a lot to many people and of course they will go out and vote. If you dont usually vote, will you take the time on Thursday to pop over to the Parish Hall or The Golden Lion in Stonea to exercise your democratic right to have your choice of Parish Councillor? This means you will not be dictated to over who speaks on your behalf in regard to community matters within the village. So who is going to vote?? Goes without saying my husband and I will be voting, but who are we voting for?? Thats the great thing it is up to us to choose and we can keep our thoughts confidential. There are two very strong candidates with excellent skills and networking, one will be able to hit the ground running, the other will take time to settle and does not know all of the councillors the other does. Depends whether you consider this an issue or not. Do I? Up to me to know and the ballot box to find out....
