For a while on July 9th 1964 Huntington motorists thought the road - TopicsExpress

For a while on July 9th 1964 Huntington motorists thought the road near 16th St. (Hal Greer Blvd) Viaduct was caving in again. Every car that passed over the repaired cave in, did so with a thump. The city street department reports that the repaired section settled after sand packed around a new section of sewer pipe shifted. The occurrence is normal. Street crews expect to have the patch built up again tonight. The department says it will take at least 3 weeks before the area settles enough to place a concrete molding in the patch to make it last for years. WSAZ Video Archive
