For achieving the optimum organizational culture, the following steps are necessary: Role of the top Management: Organizational culture is always led from the top and cascades down to all employees. Human beings have a tendency to emulate their elders, superiors and seniors. Therefore, it is extremely important that the seniors Walk the Talk or practice what they preach. This is the starting point from where the implementation of organization culture begins. Importance of equal treatment: Employees want that equal yardstick be applied to all and there should be no Favoritism or Victimization. Equal yardstick should be the bedrock of inculcating a healthy organizational culture.It is utmost importance that policies, rules, regulations, entitlements should be clearly defined, documented and be understood at all levels to establish transparency, impartiality and credibility of the management. Physical comforts vs. Professional satisfaction: Good salary, work ambiance, lighting, temperature and other physical comforts are no doubt necessary for congenial for work atmosphere but they alone do not promote lasting morale and motivation. Feeling of worthiness, sense of belonging, freedom to contribute new ideas, recognition for good work, opportunities for advancement and growth based on merit are essential for a healthy work culture. Importance of Role and Goal Clarity: Implementation of organizational culture also requires clarity of expectations by seniors from juniors and Peers from Peer. Such expectations should be clearly spelt out. Such expectations should be spelt out in terms of Key Result Areas and should be communicated in writing and discussed face to face to remove ambiguities and to establish transparent and objective systems. In case of deviations required by business imperatives, mid-course corrections should be carried out so that justice is not only done but should appear to have been done. Importance of communication: Importance of clear communication in establishing organizational culture is extremely important. Direct, open, respectful and timely communication either verbal or written as warranted by the situation proactively prevents ambiguities and misunderstandings and promotes team spirit and mutual goodwill. Open door policy should be encouraged so that seniors are easily accessible to juniors and subordinates are encouraged to feel free to seek any clarifications. Importance of grievance redressal: Whenever employees have any genuine grievances at work place or in personal life, they should be encouraged to share it with seniors who should redress it as early as possible. Quick redressal of genuine problems generates employee loyalty, sincerity and commitment to the organization.
