For all of our county residents. Please read and share the below post. If the information is accurate, this person should be considered dangerous. We remind all of you on what you can do if an unmarked patrol vehicle attempts to stop you and you dont believe it to be a patrol vehicle. In the event a vehicle attempts to stop you that is not marked with either a lightbar, door stripes and decal, and you feel that it is not a patrol vehicle you should do the following. Slow down, and activate your emergency hazard lights. If you are equipped with a cell phone, you should call 911 immediately and give your location and the best description you can of the vehicle. If it is a unmarked patrol vehicle, the 911 dispatcher can check with the units to see if they are attempting to stop a vehicle. Stay on the line if at all possible. Do not stop until your assured by the dispatcher of the actual patrol car stopping you.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLEE OR SPEED OFF. The officer may also stay behind you until you find a location that is safe to stop or your instructed to stop. Use common sense when doing this. If you are stopped at night and you do not feel safe, please do the above and continue driving to well lit area or call 911. The majority of us know what an unmarked patrol vehicle looks like and the proper lighting and audible equipment we use. We also would encourage you to report any vehicles that you see that may be attempting to stop a citizen that looks out of the ordinary. If you have any questions, please contact the Sheriffs Office or your local police department. Below is the press release from MSP Salisbury.
