For all those still stuck in UK who dont want further integration into the EU heres some info for you. As you can see, even if you do get your referendum in 2017 it will mean nothing as it will be too late. Ladies and Gentlemen, I may be a voice crying in the wilderness but I believe its important that something is brought to the attention of the British public before we are led blindfolded into a future about which I believe it is vitally important we have a say. After all, its our lives and futures which are at stake. The terms of the Treaty of Lisbon, signed on our behalf by Gordon Brown on 13 Dec 2007, sets out, among many other things, that on the 1 November 2014, member states will lose their power of veto in 43 areas including Asylum (2), Border Controls (3) Common Defence Policy (7), Criminal Law (10), Energy (15), EU Budget (16), Freedom to Establish a Business (24) and, way down at the bottom at number 43, Withdrawal of a Member State. IS THAT CLEAR? AFTER 1 NOV 2014 WE WILL NEED THE EUS PERMISSION TO EXERCISE OUR OWN CHOICE ON WHETHER OR NOT TO REMAIN A MEMBER!! THE TREATY CLEARLY SETS OUT THAT ANY AND ALL MEMBER STATES WILL LOSE THEIR POWER OF VETO IN 43 AREAS ON 1 NOV 2014.. THIS SIMPLY MEANS THAT ALL MEMBER STATES LOSE THEIR POWER UNILATERALLY TO EXERCISE THEIR OWN CHOICE OVER STAYING IN THE EU OR WITHDRAWING FROM IT. AFTER 1 NOV 2014. FOLLOWING THAT DATE WE WILL NEED THE APPROVAL OF THE OTHER 27 (OR HOWEVER MANY STATES ITS EXTENDED TO IN THE FUTURE) ON THE BASIS OF QUALIFIED MAJORITY VOTING, THE NATURE OF WHICH, AS IT APPLIES TO THIS MATTER, HAS YET TO BE DEFINED. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE NEED TO EXTRACT OURSELVES FROM THIS QUICKSAND BEFORE 1 NOV 2014 AFTER WHICH IT WILL BE TOO LATE. Thankfully, Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon allows us to do that. 1. Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements. The UK needs to exercise that right before it is withdrawn from us.
