For all you souvenir and memorabilia not to mention programme collectors where are the best club shops and what makes them special? I gave up my serious collecting years as a concession to marriage though I still buy a programme for games I see. I therefore rarely enter shops these days as it is real torture. But a good shop can make even a fairly soulless new build venue worthwhile visiting. In my days of being a punter there were some fantastic outlets. Hayes had quite a substantial set up at their old Church Road, Tooting and Mitcham had a small but wonderfully stocked shop which first enticed me to collect programmes seriously in the early 80s and my local club Carshalton Athletic had programmes going back years until the current owner apparently binned them all and turned the shop into a toilet (opening a better appointed but poorly stocked replacement to be fair). But I remember also a great shop at Yeovil when they played at The Huish, Epsom & Ewell at West Street and many more besides. These of course have the common feature of being no more but happily the clubs survive. But as I am no longer qualified to rate the current retail outlets it is over to you guys. Please comment as I am sure for some of our community a good shop can really make a great day out. Remember too to say why it is so good. And I will leave you with the club shop at the game I went to in Abuja - no programmes, no badges, mugs are unheard of too but plenty of kit!
