For anyone cancer.....There are dieticians that help you with foods that heal, foods that protect against neuropathy in chemo, vitamin D helps protect tissue, ask your doctor......During radiation...do your research there is a newer IMRT Radiation designed to protect vital organs better, fight the insurance to pay for it....Make sure your doctor is giving it to you instead of traditional radiation but fails to inform you the insurance denied it.....Although there are still studies on the effectiveness of IMRT. Also, there is a shot that will help save tissue during radiation, make sure you ask your physician.....Now with that being said.....If you are going through radiation, watch out for the development of Pneumocitis, an inflammation of the lung from radiation, that will need treatment with steroids and antibiotics....so if you develop a cough during radiation, demand your doctor to check into this...Dont assume anything...Im trying to teach what I have learned to help those with cancer.....Most of all Cancer Centers arent always in sequence and can fail to tell you about skin care, cancer dieticians, social workers.....Be your own advocate...you have to be...Dont let any stone go unturned....If you are running a fever let your physician know...and if you dont hear from the nurse or doctor that day, (dont wait for them to call back or not call back after several days have passed)....Go there, keep calling, bug them, its your health at risk.....I think there also should be more compassion and concern in the oncology field.....room for improvement.....because cancer can hit any loved one even you.......If you work in this field and you see some of the above issues, make sure your center is informing all of the above..... because Ive seen it aint happening.....you make it happen....There should be an initial appointment showing all the things available to cancer patients...If there is a cancer center close, this should be mandatory......Any Questions, message me...God Bless all of you and remember We are going to fight this war together, family, friends, and Oncology professionals.............
