Nov 3, 1918, 10 - Cpl Howard Carter, earlier reported KIA, now officially only WIA. Parents reside at Victoria. Left here with 5th Regt draft, had gone through 4 years’ fighting unscathed. Two other brothers, Elmer and Vere, are still in the fighting line. Married Mar 17, 1919 at Walkden, Eng, Cpl Vere W, s/o T W Carter, Victoria, to Annie Hodson, of Walkden, Lancashire, Eng. V/August 21, 1931, 5 - 1st contingent ‘Originals’ will join at dinner... Includes names...; August 27, 5 - Elmer D Carter, who left here with 1st Contingent in 1914 as member of 3rd Battery, CFA has unique souvenir... It is a Union Jack with the name of each of the original members autographed on it. While stationed at Armentieres, France he had the names, which were written in ink, sewed to the flag by a French girl...; August 29, 6 - Originals to gather... *
