For anyone who doesnt already know how AMAZING AARCS volunteers are…. read on :) Theresa, one of AARCSs foster Moms, has had an extremely busy last few months! Over the last few months she has had four foster Momma’s all with puppies and back to back bottle fed puppies. Both Mom-less litters were under 6 days old when they came to her and both had 3 puppies to a litter. About a week before the last ASNTF clinic in Wabasca she was down to 3 Momma’s, returning the Momma and puppies back to their rescue as the puppies were 8 weeks old. Theresa attended the clinic and decided to take home yet another Momma with puppies, the only one that came into the surrender room was a little momma with 3 seven day old puppies. Just as they were packing up and getting ready to leave a second Momma with 9 five day old puppies came into the surrender room. She sad yes when asked to foster her, besides anyone who knows Theresa knows she just can’t say no! So in total that makes 5 Mommas and between them 33 (!!!) puppies in total, and her 3 bottle fed ones. But, it doesnt stop there. Yesterday she was asked to take in 6 abandoned puppies from another rescue organization. Then she got a text from AARCS yesterday and we also had 6 Mom-less puppies who are 10 days old. What does she do? Of course she said yes to all 12 Mom-less puppies! The 6 from ZARS got put in with the Momma (Mojo) that has only 3 puppies. Mojo took the puppies instantly like the puppies were her long lost family and she has been waiting for them all this time. The minute Mojo saw the puppies she was crying and wanting into the kennel that the puppies were in. She took the puppies and placed them in the whelping box with Mojo’s 3 pups and Mojo lays right down and starts licking and nursing the 6 new puppies. It was one of the most magical moments! Is everyone keeping track that leaves 6 puppies still without a Momma!? (Its okay, were having a hard time keeping track too!) Theresa is bottle feeding the 6 - 10 day old puppies that AARCS brought. Also, she still has the 3 bottle fed puppies from before that are 4 weeks old now and will start lapping any day. Until then she is bottle feeding 9 puppies. On the upside one of her Momma’s and her 5 puppies were ready to go back to AARCS (yahoo!). In care with Theresa right now are 4 Momma’s with 34 puppies between them all and my 9 bottle fed puppies. WHOA, talk about incredible dedication to these pups and to both AARCS and the fellow rescue organization. We rely so heavily on our fosters in times of need and they always step up and help us out, its truly heartwarming. Thank you Theresa for always saying yes and for giving it 110%, all the time - youre an inspiration to all!
