For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Rom. 8:14). The idea of this Verse is that inasmuch as we are sons of God, we can be led by the Spirit of God. Unfortunately, most Believers are not led by the Spirit of God, simply because they don’t know how to be led by the Spirit of God. Merely having the Spirit of God, which, within itself, is spectacular, doesn’t guarantee His Leading. Sadly, most Christians take the Holy Spirit for granted. If they are truly Born-Again, they know that the Holy Spirit lives within their hearts and lives, but they hardly understand at all the manner and the way in which He functions within their hearts and lives. Consequently, things are done which greatly hinder Him. We must remember that all the wonderful things that He can do, which He wants and desires to do, actually which He has been sent by God the Father to do, and which He actively seeks to do, are only potential in nature. This means that the potential for Him to do all of these great things is there, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will get done. As should be obvious, it is a shame to have the Holy Spirit, Who is God, living and residing in our hearts and lives, and have Him strongly desiring to do great things for us, which He can do because He can do anything, but yet not see them done. This is not an isolated problem. It is pandemic in the Christian community; that is, most Christians are only seeing a tiny part of what the Spirit can do within our hearts and lives. How can the Christian be led by the Spirit of God? He is led by the Spirit of God in the same manner as his “walking after the Spirit” or being “spiritually minded.” I keep saying it over and over again, simply because I must say it over and over again: The Believer simply has to place his Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, and keep his Faith in Christ and the Cross, renewing it, in a sense, on a daily basis (Lk. 9:23), which will guarantee our being “led by the Spirit.” This is the manner, and the only manner, in which one is so led! This way brings the Fruit of the Spirit, Righteousness, Holiness, Christlikeness, and Victory in every capacity. The other way, which is the way of the flesh, brings nothing but defeat, sadness, sorrow, and heartache, echoing what Paul said, “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” (Rom. 7:24). For you who hold this book in your hands, you who have read these words, there is no more excuse for failure in your life. You now know the way, so walk therein!
