For black Friday weekend, sea world had a half price sale. So yesterday, I reserved a beluga whale interaction for today(one of only 3 places on earth that offer this). I showed up at the meeting spot at 1:45 pm and nobody was there. At 2 pm a guy walks up to me and says, are you Jeff? I was the only customer(there are usually 8). After saying hi to a 35 year old blind walrus, I donned a wetsuit and walked into waist deep cold water at the edge of the beluga tank. I spent 20 minutes with 2 sea world trainers and two female beluga whales that weigh over a ton each(1,000 kg). The whales were incredible, huge, gentle and cuddly(unlike the muscular dolphin, belugas have pillowy rolls of fat). The trainers were struggling to think of new tricks to show me, as normally only 2 people can approach the belugas at a time(they are timid because they are eaten by polar bears, etc.). Finally, the second trainer said to me, you mind getting wet? The beluga then proceeded to splash me in the face with her powerful fluke. I then said, didnt she just crap in the water? The private shower provided with the package came in handy.
