For cats with occasional ear issues like yeast overgrowth, debris - TopicsExpress

For cats with occasional ear issues like yeast overgrowth, debris buildup, allergy responses and/or itchiness, consider using a mild, gentle serum. Apply small amounts with an eye dropper and gently wipe away loosened debris from the outer ear - and not digging around the inner ear. Massage with your slightly oiled fingers the area around the ear using a gentle, circular motion. This will lubricate the delicate tissues, provide moisturizing relief and calm the itchy feeling. I make my Feline Ear Serum with organic Sweet Almond Oil and a cat-safe essential oil. If you have a foster cat or a cat in your rescue program, I am happy to make it for you gratis. Ichabod the Cat can attest to its efficacy :-) If your cat is experiencing chronic ear conditions, you might be able to use, or continue to use, an ear serum, but identifying the underlying issue is key. You dont want to use detergents, soaps, harsh cleaners or chemical preparations. Depending on the diagnosis, there are other remedies available.
