For everyone calling and messaging about my shoulder, thank you - TopicsExpress

For everyone calling and messaging about my shoulder, thank you for your kind words and support. I am lucky to have so many thoughtful friends, family and coworkers. I have some good news. The surgeons believe the torn tendons are false positives caused by fluid build up. Based on how fast my rotator cuff repaired itself this past winter and spring, my surgeon thinks the tendons will be strong enough to paddle by spring. This week, we discovered the primary source of my shoulder pain is actually coming from two compressed discs in my neck. I had an epidural steroid injection today, and I should have significant pain reduction by Sunday or Monday. I probably will have to have a second epidural steroid injection in three months. There will be arthroscopic surgery to clean up the labrum, but not right away. Probably in 6-12 weeks. The university health services system has the best technology and outstanding doctors and nurses. I am getting great care. And Pat and Claire are providing fantastic care for me at home. I am on the road to recovery! I am certain I will be able to compete in 50-100 mile races next summer, and I will take another stab at the MR 340 in 2015.
